READY TO BEGIN YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY?

Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

1. My house or yours? For in-person lessons, I will come to students in the city of Chicago unless you prefer your lesson to be virtual. For students outside the city of Chicago, lessons must be virtual.
2. What if I only want to improve my songwriting? Then that's what we will do! Being a singer and songwriter myself, I am always excited to take a more creative and loose approach to our lessons to best support your goals. During our trial lesson, I will take a detailed assessment of your goals and current ability then create a lesson plan that supports your vision without skimping on piano fundamentals. I have an anti-misery policy; having fun is non-negotiable.
3. Do I need my own books? Yes. Once I take an assessment of your level, I will give you instructions on specific books to purchase for yourself. Everything is available to be easily purchased online.
4. How do I pay? You will pay for your lessons monthly, at the start of each month. I accept Zelle, Venmo, or cash. I email payment receipts upon request.
5. Is there a lesson cancellation policy? If you need to miss a lesson, you will be given the option to schedule a make-up lesson within the same week. These are given on a first-come-first-serve basis and are not promised.
6. What is included in my lessons? You will learn warm-up drills to improve your coordination and strength. You will learn scales, and music theory to gain deeper knowledge and tools versatile to any future instrument. You will also learn a variety of classical music and contemporary music. Lesson content varies depending on the student's level.
7. Will there be any recitals I can look forward to? Yes! I typically organize two recitals yearly, one in late Spring and one in early Winter.
8. Age or level qualifications? Nope! I am experienced in teaching students of all levels, learning styles, and ages.
9. Do I need a piano or is a keyboard ok? Your keyboard works just fine. If you would like to upgrade your instrument, I am happy to give recommendations based on your budget and needs.
10. My question isn’t listed here! E-mail me at music.monicarose@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you asap!
